Dr. Pepper received his medical degree in 1976 from the Tufts School of Medicine in Boston. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Montefiore-Einstein Medical Center in New York, and his fellowship training in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City.
Prior to joining PBDES he served as Associate Professor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine and Director of the Diabetes Treatment Center at Brooklyn Hospital. From 1988 to 1994 he also served as Chief of the Division of Endocrinology for New York Medical College, Bronx, New York. As chief of this division he mentored numerous doctors as they prepared to enter the specialty of endocrinology and diabetes.
In 1996 upon leaving NYU to join PBDES, Dr. Gary M. Pepper was selected one of the Top 100 Physicians in New York. His independent research in thyroid, adrenal and pituitary diseases can be found in the nation’s top medical journals including the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
In addition to his full clinical schedule Dr. Gary M. Pepper continues to pursue his medical writing. He has authored a series on thyroid disease and diabetes for CNBC which is found on their websites iVillage and Yourtotalhealth.com. He also operates the highly regarded website Metabolism.com, posting authoritative blogs on diverse issues ranging from controversies in thyroid treatment to advances and setbacks in diabetes care to the politics of the FDA.
Dr. Pepper also collects Dr. Pepper soda memorabilia which he proudly displays in his main office in Jupiter. “If you happen to be Dr. Pepper, why fight it?” he says.
