It is recommended that those with diabetes choose low glycemic, high fiber carbohydrates including beans, lentils, sweet potatoes, berries, squash, whole grains & vegetables. Also pairing meals with healthy fats and lean proteins is very important for healthy glycemic control. Healthy meal plans for diabetes include plenty of vegetables, limited sugar, processed snacks and red meat, plus complex carbohydrates such as quinoa. Foods to limit for better blood sugars include high sugar cereals, processed high fat meats such as hot dogs, crackers, pretzels, cookies, chips and ice cream.
